Find out more »Great Backyard Bird Count Days Feb. 14th through Feb. 17th
From Friday February 14th, through Monday February 17th, we will counting birds at the library for the 2020 Great Backyard Bird Count. We will have the recording/count sheets available for use by any interested persons. Use these at home or at the library or both. Counts can be recorded online at www.Birdcount.org for each day of the 4-day counting period. This is a great opportunity for you to do some citizen science and help the birds at the same time.…

Code Club meets at Olson Library on the 4th Friday of each month. Kids - and adults - are invited to come and learn computer coding skills with instructors Tim Kadlec and Dereck Pennycuff. Computer science is a 21st-century skill that enables kids to be creators, rather than just consumers, of technology. Its emphasis on problem solving is applicable across disciplines!

Seuss-tastic Reading Challenges — Month of March
During the month of March, patrons are invited to get a Seuss-tastic reading challenge sheet and complete a "bingo" of 5 activities in a horizontal , vertical or diagonal row. Return the sheet to the library for a free book and entry into a drawing for other goodies at the end of the month. Pick up one of the Dr. Seuss character identification sheets and correctly identify all 19 characters to be placed into the drawing.

The month of March is Youth Art Month and we invited teachers of all grades and home schoolers of all ages to submit two- and three-dimensional art for our display in the Community Room. The artwork will be judged and ribbons and prizes awarded at our April 7th reception. Come and view the work. Vote for your favorite piece; the winner will get a special "People's Choice" award.

On Thursday March 5th from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Friday March 6th from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; and Saturday March 7th from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p. m. in the Community Room, the Friends of the Library will have a Book Sale. All kinds of donated books, music CDs, DVDs, puzzles and other media will be offered for sale. On Saturday, there will be a bag sale. Calling all 4th through 8th graders! Come to the Olson Library on Saturday March 14th from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon for a workshop on creating your entry in the poster contest. We will present information on many Northwoods’ invasive species plus give you the supplies and art paper you’ll need to create a winning poster. Posters will be displayed in the library until April 29th.
