Public Access Computers

The library has 6 desktop and 3 laptop computers with internet access available for public use in the library.

Your login ID is your library card number (with no spaces) and there is no password needed in the birthdate field. A library card or temporary pass is required to use the public computers or laptops. Patrons over the age of 18 who do not hold a library card and who are just "passing through" the area may request a temporary card from library staff. Our complete internet policy is available here, on our computers, or in paper form at the circulation desk. All computers, utilize Microsoft Windows 7 with the additional installed applications:

* Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher)
* Norton AntiVirus
* Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome (browsers)
* VLC (video/audio playback)

e-Readers

The library has 6 Kindle Fire tablets that are available for a 21-day loan period.  Holds may be placed on them.

They can only be picked up and returned to the Olson Memorial Library.

Wireless (wi-Fi) Access

Our Cisco-Meraki public access wireless system offers fast Wi-Fi connectivity throughout the library. 

The system is compatible with most wireless devices that use WPA2 wireless encryption.  Wireless access is unrestricted (no password is required).  Our wireless is on 24/7 and extends outside the building.  Visit our circulation desk for more details.

B&W, Color Copying

The library has a Xerox WorkCentre 7125 copier that is available for all your copying needs.

* 15 cents per page for black and white

* 25 cents per page for color

Printing Services

The HP LaserJet P4014n provides black and white printing service from our public access computers and wireless printing.

VHS to DVD

Our self-service Transfer Station will easily make digital copies of your personal VHS recordings.

VHS videotapes degrade over time and there’s little to stop it.  It's easy to copy your VHS tapes to DVD using our Toshiba DVR620 DVD Recorder.  Our self-service Transfer Station will easily make digital copies of your personal VHS recordings.  

Bring your own blank, recordable DVD disc (-R) and your VHS tape, follow the steps posted in our TinkerStudio, and create a digital copy ready for playback in any standard DVD player.

Blank DVDs can also be purchased at the Library for $1. The Transfer Station is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Great memories are meant to be shared, so stop in today!

The machine copies in real time plus additional time for digitizing or burning to DVD; allow at least a couple of hours to convert one tape. This equipment is offered thanks to a 2015 grant from the Institute of Museum & Library Service (IMLS).

NOTE: You must own the copyrights on your recordings in order to transfer them in accordance with Title 17 of the US Code and the DMCA. Please do not bring commercial purchases or releases recordings.
